Louie's Cafe has been a cherished tradition for me over the years, and it continues to impress with every visit. This time, I indulged in their brunch special—Eggs Breaux Bridge. This dish features a savory grits cake topped with andouille sausage, crawfish, and shrimp, all smothered in a rich shrimp and corn cream sauce. The combination was nothing short of delicious.([\[225\]][1]) My companions also savored their meals, with standout choices like the Eggs Louisianne—poached eggs on English muffins with shrimp, crawfish, and onions, finished with a spicy, buttery herb cream sauce. The flavors were bold and satisfying.([\[225\]][1]) The service was attentive and friendly, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. I also appreciated the newer location on Lake Street, which offers more seating and convenient parking, enhancing the overall experience. Whether you're a longtime patron or a first-time visitor, Louie's Cafe remains a must-visit spot in Baton Rouge. It consistently delivers quality food, great service, and a nostalgic atmosphere that keeps me coming back.

Great place for breakfast. Great hidden treasure. Place to visit from out of town. Little wait to get a seat but way worth the wait!

Visited 05/27/25 We had the pleasure of enjoying breakfast at Louie’s Cafe during our Memorial Day vacation, and it was like stepping back in time in the best way possible. There’s something so comforting about a true old-school diner, and Louie’s captures that charm perfectly, from the throwback tables and chairs to the classic ceramic coffee cups with saucers that instantly transported us to simpler times. We didn’t order anything fancy—just the basics—but everything was done exceptionally well. The hash browns, in particular, had a unique spin that absolutely delivered on flavor. It’s the kind of place where every detail feels thoughtful, from the friendly service to the hearty, satisfying food. One of the first things we noticed was a group of older gentlemen gathered over coffee and conversation, which is always a good sign you’ve found a local gem. While we’d love to say breakfast is impossible to mess up, experience has taught us otherwise. Thankfully, Louie’s is proof that there’s also a right way to do it—and they’ve got it down. A special shoutout to our server (whose name, regrettably, we didn’t catch). He mentioned he'd been working there for a couple of years, and his warmth and attentiveness put the "H" in Hospitality. If we ever find ourselves in the area again, Louie’s will be our first stop for breakfast—no question about it.

Best LSU place for great comfort food. You may have to wait but the experience and food is worth any wait. I am thankful for the past 35-40 years to be able to experience Louie's from when it was open 24 hours to today. Many times I had to stop by after a concert at the varsity or the Bayou to eat and get sober. Love Louie's. 2/14/2025-Update, tried the turkey and Swiss on rye sandwich and a cup of gumbo. Both excellent. I posted a picture of the sandwich but started tasting the gumbo and before I knew it it was gone. Always love Louie's. 4/23/2025 update - on spring break/ vacation and have to go to Louie's. I got the same turkey and Swiss on rye with a side of hash browns. The Best!

Food is back to size and quality of the past. Cost more now but worth the money. Had the super hashbrowns, and they were exceptional. It's worth a visit even when it's not 2am and you are trying to fight off a long night of partying. Unfortunately, they only have normal business hours in this era.

Professional Travel Foodie!! This place is AMAZING! The service is spot on and such a great friendly atmosphere. The food is truly a delight! We had Eggs Louisanne and the Louies Seafood Omlette. First, the portions are huge and they come with a side!! They don't skimp on their seafood in their gravy or omlettes. Their coffee is hot and yummy. After a long day of flying, this was truly a delight for breakfast!

Louie’s Cafe is located adjacent to the LSU campus and provides that 50’s diner vibe. It’s a mainstay for breakfast. The menu is replete with egg and meat options, along with those desirable short-stack choices! This really is a gotta try type of place. If you enjoy that diner atmosphere with the vinyl stools at the counter, old fashioned metal legged tables, and good ‘ole greasy home-style cooking....then you won’t be disappointed.

Louie’s Cafe has been holdin’ it down at the North Gates of LSU longer than most of us have been alive. This place is where students, parents, and sports fans all come together over some top-tier breakfast and diner grub, no matter how rough last night was. Doors open at 6:30 AM, and they keep the good food rollin’ ‘til 2:30 PM, seven days a week. So whether you’re crawlin’ in for a cure for your hangover or just need a solid meal that won’t let you down, Louie’s has got you covered. Louie’s menu has all the classics—biscuits and gravy, omelets, burgers, pancakes—but I’m here for the Cajun Hash Browns. Crispy, golden potatoes griddled with onions and Cajun seasoning for a bold kick. Then comes the customization: Colby, Swiss, or Monterey Jack cheese (or all three if you’re feeling wild), plus a lineup of toppings straight out of a Waffle House-Fais do-do mashup—mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, jalapenos, bacon, ham, sausage, chili, and more. My move? Colby cheese, bell peppers, bacon, and sour cream. Melty, smoky, crunchy, creamy—perfection on a plate. And at 15? In this economy, that’s a steal. So yeah, if you’re anywhere near Louie’s and you don’t stop in for this, I don’t know what to tell you. Except that you’re making objectively poor choices in life. Louie’s Cafe isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a part of LSU history. If you haven’t been to Louie’s yet, bless your heart—get on over there and fix that.
